Zombie Shrieker

Back when I was a card-flipper, one of my favorite MTG cards was Cadaverous Bloom. Inspired by a real-life plant that turns ants into 'zombies', ChicagoWiz has statted a monster for D&D use: Zombie Shrieker which I found to be reminiscent of my old friend Cadaverous Bloom.

Hot Elf Chick welcomes you to the OSR!

Today, I'm jumping someone else's train.

Hot Elf Chick

Welcome to the OSR!

The OSR, for those of you in Rio Linda, is the Old School Renaissance . It is a rebirth of that Ole Time Religion fun that Dungeons & Dragons used to be.

Coasters Castles Combustion defines the OSR -Old School Renaissance, as "a surge in popularity of previous editions of D&D. Common themes are are megadungeons, sandbox campaigns, and an emphasis on player rather than character skills. Matthew J. Finch's A Quick Primer for Old School Gaming articulates many of these concepts quite well."

Quick Primer to Old School Gaming by Matthew Finch is a great place to start. Swords & Wizardry, the free downloadable old-school clone rules is another. If you want to see how far one can go check out Planet Algol, one of the most original science fantasy campaigns I've ever seen from any gaming system.

Book Plug: US Navy Tailor Made Dress Blues, Liberty Cuf...

The Steve McQueen photo is from one of my favorite movies: The Sand Pebbles. The ornate embroidery on the cuffs of his jumper are examples of a naval tradition known as Liberty Cuffs.
